World’s First Hybrid Class C Motorhome

Ecocampor Unveils the World’s First Hybrid Class C Motorhome

Pioneering a New Era of Electrified RV Travel

Ecocampor proudly introduces its groundbreaking hybrid motorhome, marking a significant milestone on the path to sustainable RV adventures.

The Ecocampor Hybrid Motorhome, making its debut at the 2024 Open House, is the world’s first hybrid Class C motorhome. Built on the innovative Iveco chassis, this advanced electric platform is specifically designed for Class C motorhomes, delivering exceptional performance and efficient power support.

With its sleek design and cutting-edge hybrid technology, the Ecocampor Hybrid Motorhome embodies the brand’s relentless pursuit of innovation in the modern RV landscape. This launch further solidifies Ecocampor’s vision of leading the industry toward a greener, electrified future, offering a transformative experience for adventure enthusiasts around the globe.

Electrification will play a central role in the future development of the RV industry,” said the President and CEO of Ecocampor. “Ecocampor’s platform, built on the Iveco chassis, enables us to efficiently bring best-in-class hybrid Class C products to the market. These innovative vehicles will create significant points of differentiation for our brand, delivering exceptional travel experiences to consumers.

Easing Range Anxiety

Developed in collaboration with Iveco, a leader in medium-duty EV innovation, this hybrid chassis is powered by an electric motor and battery system that is recharged by a low-emission gasoline range extender while driving. Rooftop solar panels also provide additional power to the batteries. The chassis can be configured with three to six 35kWh batteries. This intelligent system delivers an estimated range of 500 miles, effectively alleviating range anxiety while offering ultimate travel freedom and sustainability.

Motorhomes built on this hybrid chassis will be officially launched by Ecocampor in 2025. The product is expected to align with national dual-carbon policies, contributing to the protection of nature.

“Our collaboration with Iveco is aimed at modernizing the medium-duty vehicle industry,” said the CEO of Ecocampor. “Through this partnership, we have achieved breakthroughs in the RV sector, laying a solid foundation for enhancing every aspect of the RV experience.”

The test vehicle is about 20% more aerodynamic than similar RVs due to its tapered front and rear design. This design innovation, which significantly enhances range, is a direct result of Ecocampor’s recent investment in aerodynamic research.

An 800-volt electrical architecture enables rapid charging at DC Fast Charger stations, allowing owners to spend less time charging and more time exploring.

Additionally, the vehicle can be charged at existing campsite electrical hookups, as well as through the range extender and solar panels.

Benefits Beyond Mobility

This innovative chassis adds value even while parked in the owner’s driveway. Its battery pack can serve as a backup power source for the home and charge electric devices and tools, such as e-bikes and power drills. In the future, it may even allow owners to sell the power stored in the vehicle’s batteries back to the grid.

The test vehicle’s electric powertrain also provides excellent acceleration and robust torque, enabling confident driving on highways, mountain roads, and rough terrain.

In line with Ecocampor’s holistic approach to electrification, the design innovations of this test vehicle extend beyond the powertrain. Its double-wishbone front suspension ensures a smooth ride and exceptional handling. Production models built on this chassis will feature a steer-by-wire system, offering Ecocampor the flexibility to design cockpits tailored to meet the specific needs and preferences of owners. Additionally, class-leading Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) features deliver a safe, smooth ride and outstanding handling performance.
